Everything you need to know about studying in Australia
When should I start applying for Australian universities?
Ideally, begin planning 9–12 months before your intended intake. This gives you enough time for English tests (if required), university shortlisting, applications, scholarships, education loans and visa processing. Starting early also increases your choice of universities and scholarship opportunities.
Is an MBA from Australia worth it?
For students with relevant work experience, an Australian MBA can provide strong industry exposure, global networking opportunities and access to employers across consulting, finance, technology and operations. Choosing the right university based on your career goals is more important than choosing a program based only on rankings.
Can I work part-time while studying in Australia?
Yes. International students on a valid Student Visa (Subclass 500) can generally work up to 48 hours per fortnight during study periods and full-time during scheduled course breaks. Research Master's and PhD students have broader work rights while their course is in session. Always check the latest visa conditions before making employment plans.
How long can I stay in Australia after graduation?
Many graduates are eligible for the Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485), which provides post-study work opportunities. The duration depends on your qualification, location of study and applicable visa rules. Indian students may benefit from additional stay periods under the Australia–India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA), depending on eligibility.
How employable are Indian graduates in Australia?
Australian universities do not have traditional campus placements, but 75–90% of graduates secure full-time employment within 4–6 months, especially in STEM and high-demand fields. Top recruiters include Atlassian, Canva, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Deloitte, Accenture, IBM, Commonwealth Bank, ANZ, and Telstra. The most sought-after roles for 2025–26 are AI/ML Engineer, Data Scientist, Cloud Engineer, Cybersecurity Analyst, Software Engineer, and Product Manager.
Can studying in Australia lead to Permanent Residency (PR)?
Studying in Australia does not automatically lead to PR. However, the right combination of course, occupation, work experience, location and visa pathway can improve your eligibility for skilled migration programs. PR rules change periodically, so your study plan should be based on current regulations rather than assumptions.
Can I get scholarships to study in Australia?
Yes. Scholarships are offered by Australian universities, government initiatives and external organizations. Awards may be based on academic merit, leadership, research potential or specific disciplines. The value varies widely, so it's worth exploring options early in your application journey.
Can I study in Australia without IELTS?
Yes, in some cases. While many universities accept IELTS, several also recognize alternatives such as PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge English and, in certain situations, Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificates. Requirements vary by university and course, so your eligibility should be assessed before applying.
How much does it cost to study and live in Australia?
Your total investment depends on the university, course, city and lifestyle. In addition to tuition fees, you should budget for accommodation, food, transport, health insurance and personal expenses. During counselling, we prepare a personalised cost estimate and also discuss scholarships and education loan options.
What is student life like in Australia?
Australia is consistently chosen by international students for its multicultural communities, modern campuses, high quality of life and welcoming environment. Students benefit from excellent public transport, vibrant cities, active campus communities and opportunities to gain practical work experience while studying.
